Rain, rain, rain.....

Making for interesting progress at the moment.

Retaining footings are in, followed by the block retaining walls. Now giving some shape to the ground level. The site surroundings are considerably muddy, and the Brisbane City Council has definitely made a mess attempting to complete the sewer extension to the rear of the two adjoining properties. Hopefully they can complete their works in the next week or two.

The next step is to prepare for the concrete slab to the lower level. I intend to have this in place prior to our Xmas break.

New Position.....

Apologies for the delay in updating you all. Progress has been slow, so not much to report on....
The house is back down in its new position. Fixed on to the steel columns concreted into the ground. The process went smoothly and importantly with out any difficulties...
I am currently just chipping away at the minor internal alterations that need to take place for the new bathroom to be completed, along with attempting to reconnect all the services.
Enjoy the snaps and will be in touch....

House Raise Photos

A few Photos from the house raise...

House Raise

The house was raised and slid back on Wednesday. The bulk excavation was completed and the house is due to be slid to the west on Monday... Depending on the weather?. So far things have gone to plan. Here are a few more photos of the process.

The Process...

They build styes (jenga castles) at points around the house, long lengths of steel are then placed on the underside of the house spanning between the styes. They then jack the house up with 'car jacks' and add more blocks until the desired height is reached. To slide it back they used decking boards, coated with soap placed under the steel, the bobcat was then used pull the house back, moving quite slowly, but freely on the soaped timber.... When small amounts of movement is required they use the jacks on the angle.

Its a pretty technical process, ha.. undertaken by highly skilled professionals. I think 2 of them were missing there front teeth, and they were talking about heading the bottle shop at about 10am. I am not sure weather this occurred or not.... I did not want to stick round to see the results!!!!!

All good so far... Hope you are enjoying the updates and will continue to keep you all in the loop.

Darryl the digger in action.... Yep.. one big mess... but we have progress...

Underway....

So the wait is finally over! It has taken about 6 months of planning and council approvals, but the fun has begun. Some pretty serious excavations have taken place in the last couple of days, in preparation for the relocation of the house on the block. It is being shifted back about 3m, to the right 1m and is being lifted 200mm. Quite a serious operation, that should take place in a day... All going to plan this will occur tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes......
